Construction of a 200-mile, 34-in. crude-oil and natural-gas-liquids line to Teesside is to begin as soon as possible. Santa Fe International, Brown and Root, and J. Ray McDermott hold contracts to build the $200-million main line with completion planned in the fall of 1974. Contractor's lay barges are standing by to begin construction of the crude- oil line. The 34-in. pipe is bought and stockpiled in the UK Start of construction this month would allow about 5 mo. of work before the end of the lay season in Oct., when operations must be suspended because of blustery weather. Contracts have not been let for 268 miles of 36-in. natural- gas line to Emden. This system is planned to be operational 1 yr after liquids begin flowing to the UK. The 2 systems are part of a $1.3-billion, 3-phase development plan for Ekofisk and 3 nearby fields--W. Ekofisk and Tor oil fields and Cod gas-condensate field.
