Corrosion of wrought low-antimony lead grid alloys

Wrought low-antimony (less than or equal to1.5% Sb) lead alloys bring forth promise for improved corrosion and cycle life in lead-acid batteries. A constant voltage high temperature test, using SLI battery-size plates, was carried out to define grid growth and corrosion characteristics with respect to varying antimony content, thermal treatment, and other alloying additions in wrought grids. Strength, grid growth, and corrosion data are presented.
