The relation between the Si:Al ratio and the catalytic properties of zeolites of the same structural type is usually studied on dealuminized samples. The possibility of regulating the catalytic effect by varying the Si:Al ratio in the skeleton has practically not been studied in the synthesis of zeolites. This problem assumed great timeliness recently, after it was found that the ultrahigh silica zeolites have unique catalytic properties and, in particular, their ability to convert the lower olefins to aromatic hydrocarbons with a high efficiency. In the present paper are reported the results of studying the transformations of ethylene on a series of mordenites, for which a variable Si:Al ratio was achieved under direct synthesis conditions.
