Photolytic generator of excited oxygen O/sub 2/(a/sup 1/. delta. /sub g/)

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
An analysis is made of the kinetics of physical processes in an ozone--oxygen mixture exposed to ultraviolet radiation. It is concluded that an excited-oxygen generator can be developed having a relatively high efficiency and ensuring a high O/sub 2/(a/sup 1/..delta../sub g/) content. This can be used to obtain lasing due to the 5/sup 2/P/sub 1/2/..-->..5/sup 2/P/sub 3/2/ spin--orbit transition in an iodine atom (lambda = 1315 nm) by energy transfer from O/sub 2/(a/sup 1/..delta../sub g/).
