Kinetic model of photolytic O/sub 2/ (/sup 1/. delta. ) generation

Kinetic analysis of photolysis of O/sub 3/:O/sub 2/:He mixtures by UV light has been studied. Dependence of O/sub 2/(/sup 1/..delta..) yield on partial pressures, flashlamp intensity, and duration was investigated. Results indicate sufficient O/sub 2/(/sup 1/..delta..) yield for operation of a high-power atomic iodine laser on the I(/sup 2/P/sub 1///sub 2/)..-->.. /sup 1.31/ ..mu..mI(/sup 2/P/sub 3///sub 2/) transition.
