This article attempts to determine the value of the acoustical pulse produced upon the development of film boiling on particles. It is assumed that all the hot particles have identical dimensions and are distributed uniformly within a spherical interaction zone. Contact between two liquids with significantly different temperatures can lead to a rapid growth in vapor formation in the colder liquid, which can take the form of vapor explosion. As a result of the growth of the vapor film around each particle, the interaction zone will increase in size and an acoustical pulse will be produced, the magnitude of which is determined. It is concluded that the presented technique can be used to calculate the maximum acoustical pulse produced by vapor explosion.
