Shearography for NDE of adhesive bonds and composite laminates

This paper presents a new approach for nondestructive testing. The method is called shearography, which permits full-field observation of surface strains in objects. It reveals defects by looking for defect-induced strain anomalies. A physical explanation of its principles is presented, together with examples of the evaluation of composite materials and adhesive bonds.
