This article discusses global warming and actions that can be taken to mitigate the problem. Such actions as reversal of deforestation, elimination of chlorofluorocarbons, and use of biomass fuels will be necessary to reduce carbon emissions. Also discussed is the American Forestry Association's Global ReLeaf program to encourage U.S. communities to plant 100 million trees by 1992. Environmental policies of states and of other countries are presented in tables.
