Simulator study of Hydro-Quebec MTDC line from James Bay to New England

The paper describes a simulator study of a multiterminal HVDC system stretching from the La Grande 2 complex (near James Bay) in northern Quebec to Sandy Pond (near Boston) in Massachusetts. The study shows the impact of second harmonic resonance on the ac side and 60 Hz resonance on the dc side, on the transient performance of the system and on the control and protection strategy.
