Offshore segment of the oil and gas extraction point source category

Pursuant to the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is publishing regulations providing guidelines for effluent limitations and pretreatment standards for existing sources and pretreatment standards and standards of performance for new sources in the near-offshore and far-offshore subcategories of the offshore segment of the oil and gas extraction point source category. Tables establishing the quantity or quality of pollutants or pollutant properties which may be discharged by a point source subject to specified provisions are included. The pollutant sources tabulated are deck drainage, drilling muds, drill cuttings, well treatment, sanitary, domestic, produced sand, and produced water.
