Are Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states observable

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
The color-spin structure of the Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states suggests that three classes of the Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states whose decays are dominated by two vector mesons may have sufficiently narrow widths (approx.100--300 MeV) to be detected. The rho/sup 0/rho/sup 0/ enhancement in the ..gamma gamma.. reaction is explained by the 0/sup + +/ and 2/sup + +/ Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states and the suppression of ..gamma gamma -->..rho/sup +/rho/sup -/ is understood as due to cancellation between the isoscalar and the isotensor Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states. The VV, V..gamma.., and ..gamma gamma.. widths of these three classes of the Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states are estimated. The production of these Q/sup 2/Q /sup 2/ states in J/psi radiative decays and hadronic collisions is discussed.
