Caustic cracking of steam generator tube materials. [300/sup 0/C]

The stress corrosion susceptibility of three materials (Inconel 600, Sanicro 30, and Monel 400) was evaluated in concentrated caustic solutions at 300/sup 0/C. The effect of material composition, heat treatment, applied stress, and caustic concentration on tube integrity was studied. Applied stress was found to have the greatest effect on cracking susceptibility.
