Report of US/USSR workshop on the climatic effects of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6782597
Working scientists representing a broad spectrum of disciplines from the United States and the Soviet Union met in a workshop to discuss details of past, present, and future changes of CO/sub 2/ in the atmosphere and the possible climatic consequences of those changes. It was concluded that the effects of authropogenic activities on the atmosphere are increasing; climate models indicate that the principal climatic consequences of the CO/sub 2/ increase may be an overall global warming of a few degrees C by the end of the 21st century; that the greatest warming is likely to occur in high latitudes; that such warming may have important consequences on the biosphere; and that it is necessary to pursue further coordinated research.
