Nanolog, a new way to log the resistivity of the sea floor

Journal Article · · Geophys. Prospect.; (United States)

A new device for resistivity logging was developed with a doubly focussed system. It resembles a simplified double set of microlaterologs. The diagram of the log shows the formation resistivity factor of the sediments on the sea floor. The probe is trailed after the logging boat on a cable with at least two or four cores. The penetration of this log is better than 10 cm. The log is used for resistivity mapping, and it could be used for the exploration of heavy minerals and manganese nodules.
