The quasielastic knockout reaction /sup 6/Li(p,pd)..cap alpha.. is studied in the impulse approximation at a large momentum transfer (--1.5 GeV/c) in the energy range 0.5--1.0 GeV. The quasifree backward scattering of the proton from an pair p+..-->..p+d is considered on the basis of four mechanisms: the quasiresonance contribution of the ..delta.. isobar, one-nucleon exchange, single scattering, and the mechanism of three-baryon resonances./sup 1//sup --//sup 3/ The ground state of /sup 6/Li is described by a three-body wave function in the ..cap alpha..np model./sup 4/ The distribution in the energy of the secondary protons and the tensor polarization of the emitted deuterons are calculated. A comparison of the calculations in the ..cap alpha..np and the ..cap alpha..d cluster models of /sup 6/Li is performed.
