Catalog of two-dimensional vortex patterns
The two-dimensional patterns that correspond to minima in the free energy of identical parallel vortices inside a rotating cylinder of liquid such as superfluid /sup 4/He are listed. All known stable patterns are listed for N = 1, 2,.., 30, 37, 50, where N is the number of vortices. The two lowest energy patterns are shown for all ''triangular'' numbers, N = 1+6(1+2+3+..), through N = 217. For each value of N the different patterns are ordered according to their relative free energy. 37 figures, 3 tables.
