These proceedings provide documentation of the Second International Conference on Compressed-Air Energy Storage (CAES). Sponsored by EPRI and hosted by PG E, the conference was held July 7--9, 1992 in San Francisco. CAES topics for papers included: the first US CAES plant in McIntosh, Alabama; CAES turbomachinery and system components; geological considerations for storage in salt, porous-media, and rock formations; advanced CAES cycles; economic screening and evaluation software; environmental assessments; international projects; and US host-utility program results. There were 49 papers presented, with 125 attendees from 83 organization. Presentations included papers from Germany, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Individual papers are indexed separately.
