Field and ion interactions of hybrid ac/dc transmission lines

With the increasing use of dc transmission in existing ac networks, the possibility of ac and dc circuits running parallel to each other and sharing the same right-of-way or even the same tower is increasing. It is important from the point of view of design of such hybrid ac/dc transmission lines to determine the nature and extent of field and ion interactions. A method is proposed in this paper to analyze such interactions and applied to some typical practical hybrid line configurations.
