Calculational method for thermal disadvantage factor (LWBR Development Program)
Technical Report

OSTI ID:6761850
A rapid method of calculation of the thermal disadvantage factor for a lattice cell consisting of a fuel rod, clad, and water is presented. The method permits representation of the actual cell geometry and includes the effects of spectral hardening in the fuel. It consists of a series of one-energy spatial calculations using the Sauer method followed by a homogeneous spectral calculation. Numerical comparisons between this calculational method and much more elaborate 36-multigroup Monte Carlo calculations are made, and good agreement is obtained. (NSA 22: 3848)
