This book describes inductively coupled plasmas (ICPs) and the various ways in which they are used for analysis. There are 16 separate chapters written by experts in each particular area. Each chapter dwells on one of many diverse topics such as plasma generation, spectroscopic measurement techniques, sample introduction, spectral interferences, line selection, and diagnostic studies and fundamental characteristics. Most of the book deals with the most common means of measuring spectra, namely, atomic emission spectrometry (AES), but the newer techniques of atomic fluorescence (AFS) and mass spectrometry (MS) are also represented.
