Interference of identical pions produced in. pi. /sup -/p interactions at 4 GeV/c, and the influence of resonances on the space-time characteristics of the region of their emission

In a statistics containing 113 100 events we have studied the interference of secondary charged pions produced in four reactions of ..pi../sup -/ p interactions at momentum 4 GeV/c. The space-time characteristics of the region of emission of ..pi../sup +/..pi../sup +/ and ..pi../sup -/..pi../sup -/ pairs turned out to be identical. The interference of pions in the effective-mass region of the rho, ..delta.., and ..omega../sup 0/ resonances was investigated. Indications were obtained that in two reactions the rho and ..delta.. resonances influence the interference of the pions.
