Thrust and the dynamics of collisions of fast nuclei

In the framework of the microscopic model with a potential internucleon interaction for the reaction Ne+U at 400 MeV/nucleon we have calculated the directed thrust: the ratio of the sum of the moduli of the projections of the momenta of all fragments on a selected direction to the sum of the moduli of all momenta in the c.m.s. For collisions which are close to central, the thrust depends only weakly on the dynamics of the compression. It is considerably more sensitive to the reaction dynamics in noncentral impacts.
