This patent describes a fuel line in a system for preheating fuel for an internal combustion engine. It comprises: a fuel tank for storing fuel to be supplied to the fuel line, the tank having an access opening provided in an upper portion thereof; an elongated heat exchanger installed through and secured to the access opening, a substantial portion of the heat exchanger being contained within the fuel tank; the heat exchanger defining an inlet port and an outlet port proximate a first end portion of the heat exchanger positioned externally of the fuel tank; a heated fluid chamber defined by the heat exchanger communicating between the inlet and outlet ports.
