The Fermi surfaces and the de Haas-van Alphen effect are discussed for CeSn/sub 3/, CeSb, CeCu/sub 6/, UPt/sub 3/, UPd/sub 3/, NPSN/sub 3/. It is shown that local density band calculations (with the f electrons treated as either band or core states) are highly successful in interpreting Fermi surface related phenomena for heavy fermion, mixed valent, and other anomalous f electron compounds.
