The distribution of the cumulative yields of the precursors of four iodine isotopes and /sup 135/Sb and /sup 143/Cs is found from the falloff in activity of delayed neutrons in spontaneous fission of /sup 252/Cf. It is shown that the length of the ..beta..-decay chain for heavy fragments is essentially no different from that for /sup 235/U. At the same time for light fragments the length of the ..beta..-decay chain of /sup 252/Cf is higher by 1.3 charge units than for /sup 235/U. Thus, the hypothesis of different lengths of the ..beta..-decay chains turns out to be unjustified. A correlation is observed between the low yield of fragments in symmetric and highly asymmetric fission, on the one hand, and the lengths of the ..beta..-decay chains and the number of neutrons emitted by the light and heavy fragments, on the other hand.
