Transpetco-I recently completed construction of a 71.3-mile carbon dioxide pipeline system and compressor station in the Texas Panhandle. The project obtains 20 mmcfd of carbon dioxide from an ammonia plant near Borger, Texas; compresses it from near atmospheric pressure to 1400 psig; and transports it for use in an enhanced oil recovery project via 49.3 miles of 8-in., 17.3 miles of 6-in., and 4.7 miles of 4-in. pipelines to 3 oil fields in the Hansford and Ochiltree Counties area. Four 2000-HP, electric-driven, 5-stage, 900-rpm Superior MW66 compressor units compress the carbon dioxide from a suction pressure that can range from 2 to 8 psig to a final discharge pressure of approx. 1400 psig. Interstage coolers and suction scrubbers are provided between each stage.
