Gas glut spurring incentives, special deals for cogenerators

With an overabundance of natural gas on the market, a variety of incentives are available to industrial and commercial firms to use gas for cogeneration. These include special utility rates, equipment financing, feasibility studies, and lower-priced contract-carriage gas. Soaring electricity prices advanced in cogeneration equipment, and an easing of the Fuel Use Act are other factors making gas-fired cogeneration attractive. The article cites utilities offering financing incentives, but warns potential users to be wary of long-term contracts.
