Nuclear structure data pertaining to {sup 170}Ta have been compiled and evaluated, and incorporated into the ENSDF data file. This evaluation of {sup 170}Ta supersedes the previous publications (Zhou Chunme), Nuclear Data Sheets 50, 351 (1987) (cutoff date November 1985), and Coral M. Baglin, Nuclear Data Sheets 77, 125 (1996) (cutoff date October 1995), and includes literature available by 7 April 1998. The newly incorporated references are 97MeZZ ({sup 170}W {epsilon} decay); 97Zh17 and 98Zh08 (a new (HI,xn{gamma}) study). One collective band, previously assigned to {sup 170}Ta, has now been reassigned to {sup 170}Hf.
