Commentary:EPA regulations are destroying the standard of living in the U.S. EPA's sulfur dioxide emission control standards for power plants have cost more than $60 billion without having any beneficial effect on the quality of life. SO2 standards promulgated by EPA increase U.S. dependence on foreign oil and cause an imbalance in the balance of trade. EPA must realize that there is a difference between air emissions and air pollution; much of what is emitted from power plants never reaches the earth. EPA restrictions on SO2 emissions should be lifted. (4 graphs)
