The purpose of this study is to evaluate regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) quantitatively using N-isopropyl-p-I-123-iodoamphetaine (IMP) and a single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with rotating gamma camera. Forty-six rCBF measurements were performed on 38 patients with cerebrovascular disorders. Arterial input sampling was performed for 5 min. after IMP injection. Projection data were collected from 35 to 59 min. after injection when activities in the brain became constant. These were corrected to represent 5 min. reference values using the monitored entire brain's time activity curve. rCBF values were calculated by reference sample method. The comparison study with IMP method and Xe-133 inhalation method was performed in 9 patients (119 cortical regions).
