Response of barium-fluoride plastic scintillator to light particles and particle identification

Pulse height response of BaF/sub 2/(powder)-plastic scintillator (BPS) has been measured for protons (20 MeV < E < 70 MeV), deuterons(68 MeV) and alpha particles (20 MeV < E < 110 MeV), and the results were compared with those of BaF/sub 2/ crystal, NaI(T1) and BGO scintillators. The authors show the capabilities on BPS for the particle identification using large differences in the scintillation pulses from this scintillator.
