NUCLEAR INTERACTION CORRECTION FOR DEUTERON SCINTILLATION COUNTING

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
Charged particles entering a thick scintillation counter occasionally suffer a nuclear interaction before they are stopped by electronic interactions, thereby producing pulses of smaller than maximum height. This effect, which can contribute an important correction to certain experiments, was measured for 26.8- Mev deuterons incident upon NaI and plastic scintillators. (auth)
