Proton electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region from 8. 9 to 13. 0 GeV[sup 2]

Cross sections for the reaction [ital p[bar p]][r arrow][ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]] have been measured at [ital s]=8.9,12.4, and 13.0 GeV[sup 2]. The cross sections have been analyzed to obtain the proton electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region. We find that [ital G][sub [ital M]]([ital q][sup 2])[proportional to][ital q][sup [minus]4][alpha][sub [ital s]][sup 2]([ital q][sup 2]) for [ital q][sup 2][ge]5 (GeV/[ital c])[sup 2].
