Development of RDF uses: Urban space district heating

Conference · · Alternative Energy Sources; (United States)
OSTI ID:6699125
The RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) use in municipal heating plants or in district heating facilities could realize a double result: Use of a fuel from renewable sources at lower cost than with traditional fuels. Three types of fuels are foreseen: the dust, the fluff and the pellet ones, and they will be burnt out together with variable quantities of fossil fuel; complete and shorten the production disposal-resource recovery from wastes cycle in the same local area. The plant conceived for this development research was designed on the basis of the results obtained in the research program accomplished in the past three years at our department under the support of the Italian National Research Council. The papers on it were presented in past editions of this conference.
