The U.S. Materials Transportation Bureau defers the effective date of the marking requirement of regulations issued earlier for thermoplastic pipe manufactured after 5/17/78, from 5/18/78 until 8/16/78. The new effective date will allow additional time needed by some plastic pipe manufacturers to obtain equipment needed to mark pipe in accordance with the regulations.
