New clean air act: its impact on energy and growth

The Sixth Government Affairs Seminar conducted by the Air Pollution Control Association was held in Washington, D.C. on March 22-23, 1978. The seminar was conducted in four sessions. The first session, entitled ''Problems Solved and Created by the 1977 Amendments,'' dealt with the anticipated impact of the changes in the Clean Air Act. ''The Prognosis for Mobile Sources'' was the title for Session IIA. The effects of the changes in regulatory structure on air quality, economy, and costs were discussed. Session II-B had as its subject ''New Rules for Stationary Sources.'' One of the principal questions discussed was, ''How will the various interested parties be able to cope with these sweeping new requirements.'' Session III was entitled ''The New Clean Air Act and National Energy Policy.'' The interrelationships of energy policy and environmental imperatives were discussed. In the report condensed versions of the prepared remarks of the participants are presented.
