Ionizing radiation was used as a motivating stimulus. X-rays that were administered simultaneously with the ingestion of saccharin flavored water cause an aversion to the saccharin solution on subsequent preference tests. We have demonstrated that dose rate can vary from 2.5 r per hour to 400 r per minute in conditioning an aversion to saccharin. 2 refs., 1 tab.
