A preliminary analysis of VAX gateway performance data

A preliminary analysis was performed on data collected from the system monitor file of the VAX Gateway System. The intent of the study was to determine whether simple statistical techniques might be useful in tracking performance of this critical node in the Central Computing Network. Initial results indicate that further research will be necessary to characterize the underlying process with sufficient accuracy to accomplish the objective providing simple real time performance monitoring tools. 2 refs., 4 figs.
