A discussion covers the production of anodes for impressed-current cathodic protection by roll-bonding platinum coatings on niobium; the use of such anodes in sea water on drilling rigs, offshore platforms, docks and piers, pipelines, cables, etc.; the use of platinum-clad niobium probes in heat-exchanger systems operating on sea water; platinum-clad niobium-mesh anodes for use in deepwater wells for impressed-current cathodic protection; and the advantages of platinum-clad niobium foil anodes over conventional carbon and high-silicon iron anodes in shallow or deep impressed-current groundbeds in soil.
