Bernard T. Field, 73, died in New York City February 19 of lymphoma. Bernie Field was a physicist whose passion was world peace. Bernie Field assisted Leo Szilard and Enrico Fermi to produce a controlled self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. Later, he became a group leadrer in the atom bomb project. After the war, he dedicated his time to nuclear disarmament, international cooperation, and peaceful conflict resolution.
