Impact of coal characteristics on Chinese utility boilers

Conference · · Proc. Am. Power Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6653418
This paper discusses the problems encountered in the determination of coal burning characteristics, coal preparation systems, boiler burners and furnaces, power plant investment analysis and the measures taken. China's coal deposits and their exploitations are introduced, and ten large coal production bases and five large open-cut mines are mentioned. China ranks third in the world in established deposits with nearly 640,000 million tons. China already has some experience in burning bituminous coals and semianthracites, but not with anthracite, lignite and high-ash coal-washing middlings. Research work and application of atmospheric fluidized bed combustion (AFBC) boilers was started in the mid-1960's.
