The hearings on H.R. 2837 that amends the Toxic Substance Control Act to assist states in responding to the threat to human health posed by exposure to radon were held by the Committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Health and Environment chaired by Hon. Henry A. Waxman. Testimony was presented by the Environmental Protection Agency Deputy Administrator and a number of other outstanding witnesses representing state governments, health organizations, homebuilders, and environmental groups. The bill is recorded in its entirety and provides for both technical and financial assistance to the states for the enactment and execution of radon testing programs.
