Two papers were presented at the Fifth International Symposium on Salt at Hamburg (May 29--31, 1978). Start-up of the in situ heater tests at the Stripa mine in Sweden and waste disposal activities at the Asse II salt mine and work at the Institute fuer Tieflagerung Gesellschaft fuer Strahlen-und Umweltforschung are described.
