Production of partons and hadrons in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilations: quark and gluon jet models

Monte Carlo models for the production of parton showers in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilations are described. Various prescriptions for the manner in which the outgoing partons become hadrons are examined and a new model is presented. It does not rely on the Feynman and Field parameterization but instead is based on perturbative QCD and simple phase-space ideas.
