Sandia M O contract attracts six bidders

Bidding is underway for the nine billion dollar, five year maintenance contract at the US Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratory. Six firms are vying for the contract to replace AT T Corp., the current contractor which has run the installation since 1949. Sandia's mission under the new contract will be split between defence engineering and energy and conservation research. It is possible that Sandia will become the R D center for the dismanteling of nuclear warheads. The management and operations contract will be a cost reimbursement type.
