Hearing transcript :The state of the art of solid waste management in Asia is reported. Current methods of solid waste management are land deposits of wastes, composting, incineration, and recycling. Pollution and health problems associated with these practices are discussed. Factors shown to hinder the application of U.S. and European solid waste management technology in Asia are a lack of funds, limited foreign exchange, climate and weather conditions, inadequate public education, religious practices, and social attitudes toward cleanliness.
