Theoretical interpretation of the Gamow-Teller strength in the /sup 42/Ca(p,n)/sup 42/Sc reaction

We have calculated the Gamow-Teller strength of the /sup 42/Ca(p,n)/sup 42/Sc(1/sup +/) reaction using the Kuo-Brown wave function. This shell model calculation together with the ..delta.. isobar quenching mechanism accounts for the Gamow-Teller strength.
