Ground-state spectroscopic quadrupole moments of /sup 182,183,184,186,188/Re

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
The quadrupole interaction frequencies ..nu../sub Q/=e/sup 2/qQ/h of radioactive /sup 182,183,184,186,188/Re in a Re single crystal have been determined by the nuclear orientation technique at temperatures down to 3 mK as -223(21), -262(24), -390(33), -104(14), and -103(16) MHz, respectively. With the known electric field gradient eq(ReRe)=-4.87(15) x 10/sup 17/ V/cm/sup 2/ the following ground-state quadrupole moments are deduced: Q(/sup 182/Re; 2/sup +/)=+1.9(2) b; Q(/sup 183/Re; 5/2/sup +/)=+2.2(2) b; Q(/sup 184/Re; 3/sup -/)=+3.3(3) b; Q(/sup 186/Re; 1/sup -/)=+0.88(12) b; Q(/sup 188/Re; 1/sup -/)=+0.88(14) b.
