CASCADE EXCITATION OF SECOND ROTATION LEVELS IN SEPARATED W ISOTOPES (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Izvest. Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R., Ser. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4075654
Tungsten targets were bombarded with 27.8-Mev Ne/sup 20/ ions and 36-Mev nitrogen ions, and the excitation levels in W/sup 182/ W/sup 183/, W/sup 184/, and W/sup 186/ were d etermined. The gamma spectra for W/sup 182/ and W/sup 184/ bombarded by 27.8-Mev Ne/sup 20/, an d W/sup 186/, bombarded by 36.0-Mev nitrogen, are shown. The magnitudes E/sub 4//sup +/-2/sup +/ for the transition 4/sup +/ - 2/sup +/ in W/sup 1/ /sup 82/, W/sup 184/, and W/sup 186/ are 230, 250, and 275 Mev, respectively. An analysis of the data confirms a postulation that gamma lines E = 230, 250, and 275 kev are produced by Coulomb excitation at E = 330, 360, and 400 kev in W/sup 182/, W/sup 184/ and W/sup 186/, res pectively. A second rotational level, E = 400 kev, was found in W/sup 186/ for the first time; the rest of the data are in good agreement with published data and to a certain degree supplement them. (R.V.J.)
