Synthesis and vibrational spectra of tetra-. mu. -formato complexes of dimolybdenum and its derivatives

The synthesis of tetraformato complexes of dimolybdenum(II) with various axial substituents has been described. The spectroscopic (IR and Raman) characteristics of the formate of Mo/sub 2//sup 4 +/ with isotopically substituted formato ligands and derivatives of dimolybdenum formate with various substituents occupying the axial positions have been discussed.
